Mission Statement

Our mission at St. Mary's is to be a source of everything that is needed to sustain the spiritual, moral, social and intellectual development of each child in our care. We want everyone involved in the life of the school to experience and promote Gospel values so that everything that happens in the school - the curriculum, relationships, pastoral care and discipline, demonstrate God's love for every individual.

We aim:

  1. To provide a happy environment for pupils and staff in a school where good relationships are cultivated, where reconciliation is practised, where grievances can be aired and dealt with openly and justly and where each individual's needs are catered for.
  2. To help the children to develop a personal relationship with God and a love and understanding of their Catholic Faith, which will inform their daily life.
  3. To help the pupils develop lively, enquiring minds and a love of learning with the ability to question and argue rationally and to apply themselves conscientiously to tasks.
  4. To develop a sense of self respect and appreciation of each individual's worth and the ability to work together.
  5. To help pupils to acquire the knowledge and skills relevant to their lives as developing citizens, at work and leisure.
  6. To encourage a respect for others, based upon an understanding and tolerance of the various races, religions and cultures present in our society
  7. To help pupils to understand and take care of the world in which they live, to have some knowledge of past human achievements and to recognise the interdependence of individuals, groups and nations.
  8. To provide equality of opportunity and a balanced curriculum for all pupils.
